WHAT IS A DROPBOX?
Dropbox is a personal cloud storage service (sometimes
referred to as an online backup service) that is frequently used for file
sharing and collaboration. It can also be a folder on your computer or laptop
that synchronizes your files online and across computers . Any files you place
within it will be available on your other computers with DropBox , as well as
the Web . This means that all of your files are available from any computers
that has an active internet connection . Further more, if you make any updates
to the files within your Dropbox, they’ll update across all your other
computers without you need to anything . DropBox also works on Windows, Mac and
Linux, so your files can be synchronized no matter what computer you use. The
service provides 2 gigabytes [GB] of storage for free and up to 100
gigabytes[GB] on various for fee – plans.
USING DROPBOX
CREATING A DROPBOX ACCOUNT
LET US LEARN HOW TO CREATE AN DROPBOX ACCOUNT .
1. 1. Go to https://www.dropbox.com/register
in a web browser . This will open the Dropbox sign-up-page. If you already have
a DropBox account, skip to the next part.
2. 2. Fill out your account information. Enter
the following information in the Top-right side of the page:
Full name :
Type in your first and last name, separated by a space.
Email : Type in a working email address (
e.g., an email address that you can access with ease and to which you have the
password). You’ll use this email address to log into Dropbox.
PASSWORD: Type in a password for your
dropbox account. You’ll use this password to log into Dropbox.
3. 3.Check the “I agree to Dropbox Terms” box. This
is below the “Email” field.
4. 4.Click Sign up for free. It’s a blue button below
the “ I agree” box. Doing so will create your Dropbox account. Or you can also
choose Sign up with google button, if you have a gmail account. At this point,
you can also download Dropbox to your computer.
USING DROPBOX ONLINE
1. 1. Open the dropbox website . Go to https://www.dropbox.com/home/ on a computer or laptop . This will open
your Dropbox home page if you’re already logged into Dropbox.
If you aren’t logged in, first enter you
email address and password in the “Email” and “passwords” fields, then click
Sign in to continue.
2. 2. Review your My files page.
3. 3. Review the sorting options.
4. 4. Make sure you’re on the My files page. If you
clicked into any of the sorting options, click My files in the upper- left
corner of the page to return to the My files page.
5. 5. Click Upload Files. It’s a blue button in the
top-right side of the page. Doing so will open a file explorer window(Windows)
or a finder window (Mac) where you can select files and folder to upload.
6. 6. Select files or folders to upload.
7. 7. Wait for your files to finish uploading.
8. 8. Create a new folder.
9. 9. Download a file.
